§ 01Educational Use Only
All content on this site is provided for educational and informational purposes only. It is not a substitute for formal instruction, textbooks, or the guidance of a qualified mathematics educator.
Always consult your own course materials, prescribed textbooks and your lecturers or teachers as the primary sources of mathematical instruction for your course. This site is a supplement, not a replacement, for formal study.
Mathematics as taught on this site is designed to be accurate, clear and helpful to the greatest number of students possible. However, university and high school courses vary significantly in their notation conventions, the methods they require or prefer, the level of rigour expected, and the specific topics covered. What this site teaches may differ in presentation from what your particular course requires.
Before an examination, always verify that the methods you plan to use are acceptable to your specific examiner or course coordinator. In particular, if your course requires you to show working in a specific format, or to use a specific notation for derivatives, integrals or probability, check with your lecturer that the approach shown here is compatible.
§ 02Accuracy of Content
Every effort has been made to ensure the mathematical content on this site is correct. However, errors can occur, and we cannot guarantee that every worked example, formula or explanation is free from mistakes.
Mathematics is an exact discipline: a single sign error or misplaced step can produce a completely wrong answer. While the content on this site has been checked carefully, it has not been subject to the same formal peer-review process as a published academic textbook. It is possible that errors exist.
If you find anything that appears to be incorrect, whether a mathematical error in a worked example, an unclear or misleading explanation, an incorrect formula, or a typographical mistake in notation: please report it via our Contact page. All error reports are taken seriously and investigated promptly. The site is actively maintained and corrected when errors are identified.
Before concluding that the site contains an error, first check whether the discrepancy might be a difference in notation or method rather than a mathematical mistake. For example, some textbooks write the chain rule in Leibniz notation (dy/dx = dy/du · du/dx) while others use prime notation (f′(g(x)) · g′(x)). These are equivalent, they are not errors in each other. If after checking you still believe there is a genuine mathematical mistake, please do report it.
§ 03No Warranty
This site is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MathsTricks & Calculus makes no warranties, representations or guarantees of any kind regarding:
- The accuracy, completeness or suitability of the mathematical content for any particular purpose.
- The availability or uninterrupted operation of the website.
- The absence of errors, bugs or other technical defects.
- The results or academic outcomes that any student may achieve by studying this material.
- The compatibility of the methods shown with any specific course, curriculum, examination board or institution.
Use of this site and reliance on its content is entirely at your own risk. The site operator shall not be liable for any loss or damage, including loss of marks, academic disadvantage, or any other harm, arising from your use of or reliance on the content here.
§ 04External Links
This site may from time to time reference or link to external websites. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy or availability of those external resources.
Any links to external sites are provided for convenience and reference only. The inclusion of a link does not constitute an endorsement of the linked site, its content, or the organisation behind it. External sites have their own terms of use and privacy policies, which you should review independently.
If you follow a link from this site and encounter content that is inaccurate, offensive, or otherwise problematic, please let us know via our Contact page and we will review the link in question.
§ 05Intellectual Property
The original content, explanations, methods and presentation on this site are the intellectual property of MathsTricks & Calculus.
The mathematical content itself, the theorems, formulas, and worked examples, reflects established mathematical knowledge that is not owned by anyone. You are free to use the mathematics. However, the specific written explanations, the C-Rule framing, the step-by-step presentation structure, the CSS design, and the JavaScript code that makes the interactive exercises work are original creative works belonging to this site.
You may not copy, reproduce, redistribute or publish the original written content of this site, in whole or in substantial part, without prior written permission. Personal use (reading, studying, printing a page for your own revision, sharing a link with a classmate) is of course welcome and encouraged. That is exactly what the site is here for.
§ 06Governing Law
This disclaimer and all matters related to the use of this site are governed by applicable law in the jurisdiction in which the site is operated.
If any provision of this disclaimer is found to be invalid or unenforceable under applicable law, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The failure to enforce any provision of this disclaimer shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
This disclaimer was last reviewed and updated in 2025. We reserve the right to modify it at any time without prior notice. Continued use of the site following any modification constitutes acceptance of the revised disclaimer.
If you have questions about this disclaimer, please get in touch via our Contact page.
§ 07A Final Word
Legal pages are necessary. But they should not obscure what this site actually is.
MathsTricks & Calculus is a free resource built by someone who cares deeply about mathematics education. The legal language above exists to protect both the site and its users, not to create distance. The real spirit of this site is the opposite of a disclaimer: it is a commitment to explain things properly, to correct mistakes when they appear, to listen to student feedback, and to keep improving.
If you ever feel that this site has misled you, left you more confused than when you started, or failed you in some way, please say so. Our contact details are always open. Every message from a student is read. The goal is for this site to be genuinely useful, and the only way to know whether it is achieving that is to hear from the people using it.
